Look closely and see what I am holding.
Why do you think it is here?
What has happened to this turtle?
How old do you think it is?
What questions do you have about turtles?

Jeep Tour
This is the village house where we stayed up on Mount Merapi.
It was like staying in a New Zealand tramping hut.
We also visited a local family and had our dinner with them. Their food is very different to ours - rice, chicken, tofu, bean curd and very hot chillies!
We were lucky enough to go on a jeep tour today right up on to Mount Merapi.
It was very exciting - the roads were rough tracks with huge boulders to negotiate at times and lots of deep water to drive through!
This is a very active volcano with smoke always seen coming from the top.
Can you find out when it last erupted?

Indonesian Money
I have shown you the front and reverse side of a $10 000 note. In NZ money this is $1.
Here is a $100 000 note. How much is this in NZ money?
Look carefully at all of the notes here.
How much is this in Indonesian money?
How much is it in NZ money?
I can buy a T shirt for $15 000 in Indonesian money.
How much is this in NZ money?
If I used all of these notes in these photos, how many T shirts could I buy?
Would I have any change?
Good luck with this mathematical task!!!

Yogyakarta
We are now in the smaller city of Yogyakarta nearer the centre of Java Island.
The top photo shows some of our group sitting at a Javanese table ready to drink their special tea before having lunch.
The next two photos show the tools of the trade for working with silver and an example of what can be made! I had very little success with making a ring - the work is so fine!!!
Luckily for me there was a shop with ready-made items so I bough a necklace.
This picture is taken at Sunrise at Borobudur. We had to get up at 3.00am and travel by bus for an hour to get to this amazing Buddhist Monument. We waited for about an hour and a half for the sun to come up before we could really see what the Monument looked like.
I wonder if you can find a picture of this Monument?
There are 6 different ways in which the Buddha statues are shown in this Monument too. Can you find a picture and email it to me so I can add it to my blog???

Hello Nikau Class.
I've found some interesting people and objects on my travels over here in Indonesia.
I've noticed that students in Jakarta Schools work in much the same ways as we do. This class was working on "Fractions".
Dr Seuss and the Places We'll Go was painted on the door of a school library!
These funny looking blue vehicles are like taxis!! There are hundreds parked along the streets ready to take passengers to many different places.
Your next challenge: can you design and make your own version of a Tuk Tuk?
I have prizes for any of you who post comments, email me messages and complete tasks!!!
How did you go with the Maths tasks from yesterday??? Very easy probably for Jack and Ty!!!
I wonder what will come up tomorrow???

Arriving in Indonesia.
Hello Ms Revell and Nikau Class.
Welcome back to Term 2.
Each day I hope to post new pictures and videos with some little challenges for you to do as well. Please make comments or email me - I'd love to hear what you're doing.
I arrived in Jakarta at 1.00pm on Wednesday 15th April to a steamy 29 degrees Celsius.
Jakarta time is 5 hours behind NZ time.
Challenge Tasks:
If I left NZ at 8.00pm on Tuesday 14th and arrived in Jakarta at 1.00pm on Wednesday 15th, how long did it take me to get here?
What would the time have been in NZ when I arrived?
If I had breakfast at 7.00am in Jakarta, what would the time be in NZ?
Can you find out where Indonesia is on a world map, and put a pin in where Jakarta is?
